Viana Heart Earrings in 925 Sterling Silver - The "Viana Heart" was initially created in the late 18th century by order of Queen Maria I, as a tribute to the Sacred Heart of Jesus following the birth of her son. The piece was, initially, a religious symbol, with the "flames" at the top symbolizing the fire of religious devotion.
Royal Popularization: The jewel became a national icon after the visit of Queen Maria II to Viana do Castelo in 1852.
